XREAL AURA for Work: What You Actually Need to Carry

XREAL AURA for Work: What You Actually Need to Carry Open Source Factory · Launch analysis · Sources checked October 29, 2026 Watch the English motion graphic An English visual overview. Original motion graphics, newly composed music and sound design: Open Source Factory. Conceptual animation based on official product documents; not a device recording or hands-on test. The little computer on AURA’s cable is the part I keep coming back to. It takes the battery and much of the processing off your face. It also means the portable office has more than one piece to pack. XREAL AURA can run Android XR apps through its computing puck and bring a laptop display into that workspace as one window. That is a useful combination for travel. Whether it can replace your usual setup depends on text clarity, input devices, charging and the apps your job needs. This is a launch analysis from official documents; I have not worn or tested the hardware. What does AURA put on your desk? Google opened orde...

HARDWARE & DESIGN TDK's 150 nm Reflector: A Component, Not Finished Glasses Open Source Factory · Oct 10, 2026 · 6 min read Watch the English motion graphic 48-second English explainer. Motion graphics and original music: Open Source Factory. TDK promotional render via Impress Watch; diagrams are conceptual. TDK demonstrated a thin reflector inside an eyeglass lens. That may reduce one source of optical bulk, but the laser engine, tracking, battery and frame still need somewhere to go. The current monochrome prototype is a component result worth examining on those terms. In this article The demonstrated optical layer Redirecting light with a flat reflector Layer thickness and visible-light transmission Tracking a moving wearer Potential uses and product constraints Prototype status There is a physical prototype behind the announcement, but the current system is monochrome. Full color and mass production remain development goals. I have not worn or tested it; this is an analy...

HARDWARE & DESIGN Meta VR Glasses: What the 100g Figure Leaves Out Open Source Factory · Sep 23, 2026 · 12 min read Moving the processor and battery into a pocket puck reduces the weight on your face. It also leaves a cable, another device and a narrower view to evaluate. Meta's 100g figure is useful, provided the complete $1,299.99 system stays in the comparison. In this article The announced configuration Moving mass off the face The narrower field of view Accessories outside the base price Content and software access Comparing the leaks with the announcement Early reactions The intended audience Linked source documents The announced system puts about 100g on the face and a 300g processor-and-battery puck elsewhere. Meta lists up to three hours of playback and a 70-degree horizontal field of view, compared here with Quest 3's roughly 110 degrees. These are system-design trade-offs to verify in use, not measurements made for this article. The Meta VR Glasses, with th...

HARDWARE & DESIGN Project Phoenix: What Could Be Inferred Before the Reveal? Open Source Factory · Sep 17, 2026 · 11 min read Correction, October 17, 2026: this is a September 18 reporting snapshot, not a personal hardware test. The earlier sentence claiming a side-by-side URXR/Quest test has been withdrawn. Read the September 24 official-announcement follow-up linked below for the later specifications. Third-party leak images have been removed; the original analytical charts remain. An app package supplied clues about Meta's glasses-style headset before the official reveal. It did not supply a device to test. This September reporting snapshot preserves what was known then and links the later announcement, where the specifications can be checked against the earlier expectations. In this article The material recovered from the app package Reported details and confirmation status The weight target in context The reported field of view Meta’s product direction The expectations ...
